Get the 411 on Qualifying and Applying for Disability

Dealing with the Social Security disability claims process can feel overwhelming to our clients and our members who often are working alongside them,  because the Social Security Administration can be faceless bureaucracy with confusing and complicated rules.

The application process for Social Security disability benefits can be frustrating because most claims are denied at the initial application level.

For many decades, Andrew Magruder, of Wilkinson and Magruder LLP, (www.augustadisability.net) has worked to serve clients in the Augusta and Aiken areas of Georgia and South Carolina. He has worked on Social Security disability cases since 2000 and has practiced almost exclusively in Social Security disability law, and handles all types of claims and at all different stages, including hearings and appeals.

We are fortunate to have Mr. Magruder join us to discuss and outline the basics about helping our clients explore this important form of assistance and how we can best help them should your client or someone in their family require this benefit.

Mixing Family & Business: The Dynamics of Working with Families and their Finances

Executive Coach, Legacy Planner and President of JB Advisors, Inc, Jennifer Bush, will join us to answer your questions regarding the complicated and sometime contentious dealings of family businesses and financial legacy.

As Daily Money Managers, we often work with multi generational financial issues. Jennifer specializes in addressing the root causes of communication and personality 'rubs'.  She has also assisted in resolving conflicts and sparking agreement between family members and stakeholders.

During this meeting, Jennifer will take part in a Q & A style discussion driven by our members questions, issues and experiences with their own clients.

Clients value Jennifer's ability to understand disparate points of view and facilitate thoughtful, productive, and authentic conversations that lead to sustainable results. Most recently, Jennifer has collaborated with three different organizations about how they want to live their values through leadership succession planning, strategic plan implementation, and/or their ongoing engagement of board members, staff, and patrons.

Prior to consulting, Jennifer worked for The Coca-Cola Company and BOC Health Care. In these companies, Jennifer built practical, global leadership development systems and led teams through strategic planning, business process redesign, and organizational change management. She has served as an executive coach to more than 150 CEOs and senior leadership team members and conducted/led hundreds of senior leadership strategy retreats.

Favorite Tech Hacks: Share your Tech Strengths and Challenges

Is it AI use? 2FA challenges? Or sharing documents with your clients while working remotely. Our group of Daily Money Managers deal with the constantly changing world of tech and work arounds. Share some or your favorite 'hacks' that help you get the job done.

Many of our members work remotely and are solo-entrepreneurs, this is one of our most popular meeting topics as it lets us share our 'wins' and 'struggles' with a group of like minded, savvy DMMs.  Please join the meeting with at least one problem or solution to share and we'll go from there!

Long Term Care: It's Not Your Parent's Policy Anymore

Jeremy Bird, is Sr. Vice President at Arthur J. Gallagher, specializing in long term care insurance solutions. LTC insurance has seen many changes in the last several years leaving our clients asking, " should I consider purchasing one, when is the best time to purchase it, and which type of LTC policy is right for me?"

Jeremy will outline some of the more recent innovative changes in LTC products and answer our questions about the types of policies that can be custom fit to our clients needs.

Jeremy has been a sole proprietor since graduating from the University of Virginia with a degree in Economics. He pursued a career in Life and Health insurance because he believed the industry didn't have a large number of young brokers. As a result, he believed the "sky was the limit" to succeed. As Senior Vice President at Arthur J. Gallagher, he has committed himself to working for the good of his clients.

His goal is to provide the most efficient experience for his clients. Whether it be reviewing an existing portfolio of policies or creating a new portfolio, the process needs to be controlled from the very beginning which includes case design, informal underwriting, formal underwriting, and policy placement. Arthur J. Gallagher possesses the resources and relationships to provide that control.
He works with advisors, individual clients, and business owners/executives to determine their goals and needs.

What's New In Medicare and the Georgia Access Portal

Long-time expert and a 'regular' speaker to or group, Keith Nabb joins us again this year, to outline any new changes our Medicare clients may expect with the new year. He will also give us some highlights on the new Georgia Access portal, launched last year for individuals looking for healthcare.

Keith has spoken to our group over a number of years, always offering insight and assistance with our clients health insurance needs. He is a native of Gwinnett County, Georgia and considers himself a Health & Medicare Sales and Education Professional. He established himself as an industry leader as an independent health insurance broker in Suwanee.

In 1995 he opened his first agency, Affordable Health & Life Plans, Inc., an independent health insurance brokerage. This was the first health insurance agency in Georgia to have an internet website, quoting health plans! Keith’s transformed his agency in 2013 as Affordable Medicare Solutions, specializing in Medicare planning and Individual Health Insurance. His staff of 10 has over 100 years of medical insurance experience and represent every major medical plan available.

With the constantly changing information in Medicare and health care, Keith continued his trendsetting approach to educating the public on their new healthcare and Medicare options. As the pre-eminent Medicare educator in Georgia, Keith has personally taught over 1200 classes on these subject.
